Lesson #1: Quiet the Mind

"If I have two swing thoughts, I have no chance at all, If I have one, maybe I'll have a good shot. If I have none, maybe I can play like Tiger Woods."

Sssshhhhh!

Quiet the Mind

Now, if there were one thing that got in the way in all areas of our life, it would no doubt be our minds. Fear, doubt, anxiety, anger, frustration, and pretty women are all fighting for our attention...especially when we are trying to hit a good shot! Yip!!! Opppps! #%(%. And so I offer the first and most difficult lesson of them all: Quiet the Mind. If you have experience with meditation great, if not, it is ok, all you need to do is sit. Sit in a comfortable position, back straight and in a quiet place also. No TV, No Music, No nothing, but you, your breath and your mind....for 5 minutes. All I'm asking is you find 5 minutes out of your day to sit in silence. Listen to your breath. Try your best not to follow your thoughts. Just sit. Simple. Time yourself. Do it at night. Do it in the morning, it doesn't matter. 5 minutes is all I'm asking. Do this for 1 week before you try to integrate the next lesson I will be giving on "Creative Visualization." Watch your golf game...how has it changed? Has it changed at all? How is it affecting your life? Your overall well being? Take note....I will see you soon. Happy sit! It is what Tiger would do. (WWTD: What would Tiger do...=))
Be well my friends,

What's the point?

mmm...well....

My intention with this site is to share how we can apply ancient wisdom and healing techniques to heal our suffering golf games--and, ultimately help change our lives. I am convinced I can help anyone improve their scores dramatically with some of the basic techniques and treatments I am offering. I am a long time practitioner of Eastern Wisdom traditions. I went to Naropa University and The Acadmeny for 5 Element Acupuncture. My partner and I have a healing practice together in Boulder, CO. We use Acupuncture and Medical Qi Gong to assist people in their healing. Don't be scared, you don't need to have an interest in anything "Eastern," or "Esoteric" to try out these techniques. Bottemline is: We want to improve our games! Right? So, How can we do this?
This site is going to be a somewhat diluted version of the book I am currently working on which is about healing our golf games and our lives simultaneously. Being a serious golfer for the majority of my life I understand the fragile dynamic of this incredibly difficult game. I have noticed over the years the incredible similarity golf has to our lives. They are mirrors for each other. The condition of our bodies, of our minds, and of our spirits all contribute to the quality of our game and our lives. There has been many books published in the past on using visualization techniques and nutrition etc., even spirituality (check out Deepack Chopra's book: Golf to Enlightenment) which touch upon the area I am interested in exploring. My approach is slightly different in that it involves all the above techniques, but also the importance of healing methods in assisting us on our path to being better golfers and better people. Chinese Medicine in particular is incredibly effective in every aspect of our being. It can help with anything from "yips" to cancer. I truly hope you find inspiration here. I am interested in what you think, so please share your thoughts and experiences. I am dedicated in helping you on this path, and I will be sharing as much from my upcoming book "Ancient Wisdom for Golders" as I can. Thank you for visiting.
Be well,
Adam
